FAQ

  • If you have jowls, sagging cheeks, drapey skin on the neck, or a gaunt or hollow look to the face, then you are an ideal candidate for the facelift.

  • The Deep plane facelift pulls the skin and muscle layer together, whereas the SMAS facelift pulls the skin and muscle in separate layers. Because the deep plane facelift releases key ligaments tethering down the muscle, a greater degree of rejuvenation can be achieved. The deep plane lift is otherwise known as a vertical lift. It can achieve far greater results compared to the standard facelift. Also it carries a lower risk of hematoma or blood clot formation which is the primary complication of standard facelifts. However, it does have a significant learning curve and is not the best technique for the inexperienced surgeon.

  • SMAS or The Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System is a connective tissue under the skin and on top of the facial muscles. As you age the SMAS muscles become less strong and begin to descend to the lower two-thirds of your face and neck resulting in unwanted sagging.
